Homeboy Industries: Lo Maximo Awards 2026

The 2026 gala centered on the concept of strategic de-escalation and the tender methodology. It was a night that challenged us to look at our "weariness" not as a burden, but as a bridge to others.

The Power of Neighboring: Guided by the words of Jane Fonda, we celebrated the "future that we are fighting for"—a multi-racial democracy where everyone feels safe, seen, and cherished. We learned that "neighboring" is not just a passive act; it is a commitment to stay and protect one another in the face of injustice.

Enhancing Wellness: Father Greg Boyle reminded us that we do not "treat illness," we "enhance wellness." This principle has become a guiding light for Destino. Our work in the arts isn't about fixing what is broken; it’s about revealing the inherent beauty and potential already present in our community.

Pain to Purpose: A recurring theme was the transformation of personal history into communal purpose. Whether through storytelling, art direction, or community activism, we celebrated the courage it takes to turn past struggles into a blueprint for a "new world."
